This week the Circle of Love directs our attention to how do we practically use this philosophy in today’s world? Interesting topic …..How many of us really know how to apply the principles of Science of Mind today and how can something written in the 19th and 20th century still be applicable? It is without question that Holmes writings are timeless and will always serve a spiritual humanity. One of my favorite books he wrote was “The Thing Itself.” Read that book and the answers are clearly there as well as understanding how time transcends these teachings.
One other thing about how Holmes is how he refers to God as “It” rather than the “He” or “Him.” This can be somewhat strange at first but notice how timely these names are now. He removed the gender and sexuality identifying the names of God from our concept. How modern? God without gender is timeless in terms of our issues today.
Another term that is timeless is how the universe works…”There is One Mind-God-and all creation is conceived from it.” When we use our mind, we are using the Mind of God. Holmes said “There is no such thing as your mind, my mind and God’s mind. There is only Mind, in which we all live, move, and have our being.” Isn’t this timeless? If we are consciously alive, we are using our God-given creative ability……always!
Finally another timeless and relevant teaching of Science of Mind is knowing that we are…everything is a Universal Presence. We are all One Mind. This loving Presence (God) is always available and present for us everywhere and anytime. When we understand this, our own presence is recognized as well as others. This is a universal basic concept and applies to all forever.
This is what we mean by getting grounded in the basics of Science of Mind. We will always use these principles no matter when and where. They are always applicable.
